Position Description: Senior Data Analyst

Duties

 

The Senior Data Analyst will analyze health care data in support of the development and validation of clinical practice guidelines.  The analyst will work with large public and proprietary databases to measure the services used by patients and the health outcomes achieved by them.  The Senior Data Analyst will also assist in the creation of statistical models of health care service utilization.

 

The successful candidate will have strong quantitative and analytical skills, including relevant computer skills.

 

This position reports to the Director of Epidemiology and Health Services Research, Milliman Care Guidelines.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics or similar with 5+ years directly related experience; or relevant advanced degree with 3+ years directly experience.
  • Knowledge of analytic techniques and metrics used in analysis of health care service data, including knowledge of health care data coding systems and common administrative data formats.
  • 5+ years experience with SAS and/or other database/reporting/statistical packages, including work with large, complex databases and automation of processes.  Knowledge of SQL, MS Access, MS Excel and Visual Basic for Applications also helpful.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
