Fall is here. It is beautiful everywhere, especially in San Diego. While we are enjoying the nice weather of San Diego, let us spend a little time to talk about our SANDS meetings.
We had a very successful SANDS meeting in June. Three SAS speakers and our SAS liaison, Andy Littleton, came to our meeting. There were great interactions between the speakers and our members. We appreciate the generous support from SAS, providing speakers, dinner, and door prizes.
We also elected three officers for SANDS during the June meeting: the current president, vice president, and secretary/treasurer were elected once again to serve our local SAS user community for another year. There are a few members who volunteer to help SANDS at the meeting and some of them have started working with SANDS Executive Committee members. We always need help from our members to make SANDS serve our members better.
In the upcoming November meeting, Kirk Lafler will present a workshop on how to remove duplicate records using SAS in the afternoon. Then, he will present the featured talk about how to communicate analytical results effectively in the evening meeting. We are so lucky to have long-term supporters like Kirk Lafler and Art Carpenter. Art just sent a note to our EC members and he said that SANDS is definitely the best local user group that he has ever been a part of. Many thanks to Art for continuously providing his popular “Stump the Programmer” puzzles to our newsletters.
SANDS needs sponsors and advertisers so we can continue to provide SANDS meetings and dinners to our members. If you would like to sponsor some of the SANDS activities, please contact our sponsorship/advertising coordinators Vivian, Lingjiao, and Tyler. If you would like to contribute articles to the SANDS newsletter, please let our vice president Archie Medrano know. Thanks again to Pfizer for sponsoring the nice meeting location!
It is hard to believe that we are almost at the end of the year! I hope 2017 has treated you well, either in work or in life. We are now two weeks away from the last SANDS meeting of the year. You won’t want to miss this great opportunity to meet with your fellow SAS users and friends.
See you at the meeting! - Wei Cheng
